The Story of French Press
Know as the French press, the Meloir in the United States, and the cafetiere in Europe, the plunger pot system is an excellent way to make coffee. Many people prefer coffee made this way because it extracts the full flavor from the ground beans while the other method tend to remove some of the taste, and the paper filters can even add a taste of their own. The plunger pot is said to have been invented in 1933 by an Italian called Caliman who sold the design and patent to a Swiss national in order to escape from Italy during the war.
